My APEX application asks users to log in twice

I had this problem with an Apex application I'm building, and finally found the cause this morning, so I thought I'd share it.

  1. Hi Jeffrey,

to my knowledge session "0" also generates unique session id, it's just stored in a cookie, but internally APEX still deals with a session for each user (also for public users). You can prove that by running your page with 0 but if you somewhere access &SESSION., you will see that it contains the actual number.

Your problem seems to be that if you are not starting your public session with session "0" the cookie is not there, so if you authenticate later on and link somewhere with session "0" in the URL, APEX doesn't have the information which session you are using that's why it generates a new session again for which you have to authenticate.

Hope that makes it more clear
